I am a licensed builder, building work supervisor, carpenter and timber pest manager with more than 40 years of residential and commercial construction experience across Australia and the United Kingdom.

Since commencing my apprenticeship in 1980, I have worked through every stage of the construction process — from earthworks and slab construction through to framing, roofing, finishes and project completion. Over that time I have supervised trades, managed construction projects and developed a practical understanding of where construction problems typically begin and how they can be identified before they become costly to rectify.

Build Code QA was established to provide homeowners with an experienced, independent perspective during the construction of their new home.

Unlike many inspection services, Build Code QA focuses exclusively on new residential construction. Inspections are designed to independently verify and document construction against approved drawings, engineering documentation, relevant building requirements and accepted construction practices applicable to the stage being inspected.

My role is not to tell homeowners what they want to hear, nor to create unnecessary conflict during the building process. My role is to provide clear, objective and evidence-based reporting so clients can better understand what is being built and make informed decisions throughout construction.

My goal is simple:

To help homeowners understand whether the home being built appears consistent with the home they contracted and paid for before critical construction elements disappear behind concrete, plaster and paint.
